Open Mat is a flexible training session where students are free to make the mat their own. Whether you want to work on specific techniques, drill positions, or spar, this time is open for you to focus on what matters most to your personal jiu-jitsu journey. With no formal instruction, Open Mat offers a relaxed environment for practicing at your own pace, connecting with teammates, and gaining valuable experience through live sparring and positional work. Positionals
In the Positionals class, we focus on specific jiu-jitsu positions with set objectives to refine control, transitions, and submissions. Each session isolates a position, such as side control, mount, or guard, and uses artificial constraints to direct the learning toward a specific goal. These constraints push you out of your comfort zone, encouraging creative problem-solving. By repeating key positions under focused conditions, you’ll address deficiencies more quickly, improving your control, decision-making, and transitions. This targeted practice accelerates development and enhances your tactical approach to real-world grappling.
