Frequently Asked Questions

I have no experience. What classes can I attend?

Join the Intro to Jiu-Jitsu program to get started. This is an 8-week program designed to teach you the foundations of jiu-jitsu.

Which classes are specific to gi? And no gi?

Unless otherwise stated, you may wear either a gi or no gi. That said, if you don’t have the proper gi/no gi attire for the class you plan to attend, just show up. It’s better to train in the wrong outfit than not train at all.

Open Mat, Positionals, and Reverse Classroom are both gi and no gi.

What is “Reverse Classroom”?

We believe that students interested in accelerating their development need time for self-study. That’s where Reverse Classroom comes in. Rather than an instructor teaching, students will collaborate with others and workshop their own techniques. Instructors and other students will be around to help to provide feedback, guidance, and troubleshooting.

Check out the Classes page for more details.

Which classes have live sparring?

Every class will have some degree of live sparring; after all, that’s core to battle-testing your technique. That said, the Open Mat and Positionals sessions are primarily focused on live sparring.

Do you allow visitors?

Absolutely! First-time visitors are welcome to drop in for a week—on us.

If you're planning to train for a week or longer, check out our pricing page for details on extended options.

I am a member of another school. Can I still attend a class?

Yes, we have no problem with it and would be happy to have you check out a class.

Do you offer free trials?

Your first week with us is free.

Is there parking at the gym?

Yes! Our gym has a parking lot. You may park anywhere that is designated for the Nickerson Business Park or is not otherwise reserved for another business.
