FAQs

Do I need any prior experience to join?
No. Jiu-Jitsu Foundations is designed specifically for people with zero prior jiu-jitsu or grappling experience.

Do I need to be in shape to start?
No. You do not need to “get in shape” before starting. Classes are scaled for beginners, and part of the program is learning how to train at an appropriate pace for your body.

What should I wear?
Athletic clothing is fine for your first class (t-shirt and shorts or leggings with no zippers). A free Rogue-branded rashguard is included with registration and can be worn once you receive it.

Do I need a gi?
To keep costs and commitment down, we will run these classes in “no gi” (tight-fitting athletic clothing). However, if you prefer to wear a gi, then you are welcome to and we will accommodate you.

Is this program safe?
Safety is a primary focus of the program. You’ll learn how to move, train, and communicate with partners in a way that minimizes risk and builds trust. All training is supervised by experienced coaches.

What if I miss a class?
Attendance on Mondays and Wednesdays is required, but we offer optional make-up classes on Thursdays at 6:30pm and Sundays at 9:00am, if needed.

What happens after the four weeks?
After completing Jiu-Jitsu Foundations, you’ll be cleared to join our All-Levels classes with the confidence and understanding to train safely and productively.

How many people are in the class?
Enrollment is limited to 12 students to ensure individual attention and a supportive learning environment.

How much does it cost?
The program costs $200 prepaid, which includes all eight classes and a Rogue-branded rashguard.

Is this program inclusive?
Yes. Rogue Jiu-Jitsu is committed to providing a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive training environment for everyone.

What else should I know before getting started?
Check out our training safety rules and our etiquette to get a head start.

How is Jiu-Jitsu Foundations different from your Intro to Jiu-Jitsu program?
Jiu-Jitsu Foundations
is a structured, cohort-based course with a fixed schedule and mandatory attendance designed to take you from day one to confidently joining all-levels classes in four weeks.

Our Intro to Jiu-Jitsu program includes a free trial experience that allows new students to sample regular classes with more flexibility and no required commitment.

If you’re looking for a guided, step-by-step introduction with a consistent group and clear progression, Jiu-Jitsu Foundations is the best fit. If you’d prefer to explore at your own pace before committing, our Intro program may be a better option.
